ECO MINDED

One of the most important recent eco-friendly product developments is a bio-additive which promotes biodegradation of treated plastics when buried in biologically-active landfills.

Plastics thrown into a landfill
can take hundreds of years
or more to degrade.

Chase Ergonomics will offer
an expanding range of plastic
and plastic-blend products that degrade in mere fractions of the time required for non-treated plastics, helping to reduce the incredible amount of garbage lingering in landfills.
Our polycarbonate, ANSI Z87.1-2010-certified safety glasses have been shown to biodegrade
an average of 22.5% in the first 308 days under
conditions that simulate a biologically-active
landfill, using the ASTM D5511-11 test.*
Actual biodegradation rates vary in landfills
according to moisture levels. Present tests at
~ 45% solids content are representative of
wetter landfills, such as those found in the
Pacific Northwest and southeastern US.

*ASTM D5511-11 specifies: "This test method may also resemble some conditions in biologically active landfills where the gas generated is recovered and biogas production is even actively promoted."
